As incidents of extreme weather in the UK are becoming more frequent, coupled with the growing impermeable built environment has led to extreme flooding events become more common. Engineers are seeking more innovative products which will help alleviate the pressure on the existing drainage network. VIAFLOW® is a range of permeable asphalt mixes which help to provide a solution to this problem.
A highly durable, free draining surface, VIAFLOW® allows water to pass through to the underlying structure or drainage system. The open graded structure of VIAFLOW® removes the problems associated with surface water flooding and improves traction in icy conditions. VIAFLOW® is suitable for use as part of a designed SUDS system either through distribution to ground/drainage or for use in 'grey-water harvesting' applications. The product is available as a 6mm or 10mm surface course and also as a 20mm binder course. The use of specially formulated polymer modified bitumen provides enhanced resistance to surface scuffing through trafficking and also offers superior freeze thaw resistance. Water management is vital in this type of application and CEMEX can help to decide the optimum construction and associated sub base products required for your specific scheme.
VIAFLOW permeable asphalt can be used in a range of applications, including car park areas, household driveways, roadside drainage and can also be used in SUDS systems.
All of our asphalts conform to the latest European standards and are designed for consistency and reliability. Our experts can advise on conformity to standards as well as specific applications. For more information on this industry leading product please call our sales team on 0345 155 6367
