Every year South Ferriby plant pumps millions of pound into the local economy through salaries, rates and spending with local suppliers. In addition to this, the plant makes donations through the 50-year-old Rugby Benevolent Fund.

The company has made a £500 donation towards a coach for South Ferriby and Winteringham primary schools - for a five day residential trip to Winmarleigh Hall near Blackpool.

The 30 pupils from year six were able to enjoy a host of activities including: information and communications technology, canoeing and quad biking.

South Ferriby plant has donated £250 for the annual repainting of the two historic sloops which were anchored on the Humber near the works.

Developed in the 18th century, the Humber sloop was designed to sail the river’s shoal-ridden open estuarial waters and to make occasional coastal passages.

The sloops need regular maintenance and are repainted every year to protect and preserve the Hull.
