110 CLAY FACING BRICKWORK:

A ready-to-use, ready-mixed lime:sand coloured or natural mortar conforming to BS 4721.The range of 13 colours, with each available in 3 shades plus a natural gives 40 standard options to provide either a colour match or colour contrast to the bricks. Non-standard colours can also be provided to order.

The general details of the mortar must also be specified in Z21/170.

Ready-mixed sand & lime mortar must be mixed with cement before use. To achieve the required strength of mortar, the correct mix of sand & lime must also be specified.

Mortar designation 1 requires a 1:3 cement to premixed lime & sand mix
(at 1:12 lime to sand proportions)
Mortar designation 2 requires a 1:4-4½ cement to premixed lime & sand mix
(at 1:9 lime to sand proportions)
Mortar designation 3 requires a 1:5-6 cement to premixed lime & sand mix
(at 1:6 lime to sand proportions)
Mortar designation 4 requires a 1:8-9 cement to premixed lime & sand mix
(at 1:4½ lime to sand proportions)
