CEMEX people
Welcome to the section that gives you a flavour for the employee experience of the career and development opportunities at CEMEX.
Guillermo Martinez,
Vice-President, Human Resources
"Employees at CEMEX can look forward to ample opportunities for personal
and professional development, both in this country and abroad, working
for a stronger, more competitive company".
Eoin McGonigle,
From Limavady in Northern Ireland, has a master's in chemical engineering
from Queen's University, Belfast, and joined CEMEX after reading about
the programme in a careers publication. He is currently taking part in
the Professionals in Development programme.
This 12-month, multi-functional programme aims to develop the next generation
of CEMEX managers through the recruitment and fast tracking of high achieving,
internationally mobile graduates.
"One of the main attractions for me is that overseas travel is actively
encouraged," he said. "I'm looking forward to working in operations in
different countries to broaden my knowledge, both professionally and personally.
I think it's a great company that's really going places".
Jas Suman,
Head of Procurement, Cement Operations
"CEMEX is a truly dynamic, global business which is very focussed on achieving
consistently good results in everything it does. I always feel valued
and well informed of key developments in our business. I am very excited
about being associated with such a company and I look forward to developing
a long and happy career with CEMEX".
Isabel Smeesters IT & BPE Services Manager
Comes from Brussels in Belgium, and has a master's degree in Economics.
She joined CEMEX IT function five years ago. Previously, she spent six
years as management consultant and four years as a management trainee
in the pharmaceutical industry. She has just completed the 12-month CEMEX
International Management Programme (CIMP), which involves a combination
of online training, courses at world-renowned universities and the completion
of a project to benefit CEMEX.
"Joining the CIMP programme has been a fantastic opportunity to
develop my understanding of CEMEX globally, as well as my personal network
within the IT function and towards the various departments represented
in the programme. Another major benefit for me has been to discover what
can be produced in only few weeks by 'virtual teams' that
are spread in different countries and across different time-zones, working
together on a commonly defined project".
