4th March 2009: Following on from the coldest winter in nearly 20 years, March and April can often bring near- to- freezing conditions, affecting how a builder applies concrete. To help builders in these difficult conditions, CEMEX UK, the building materials provider, has produced a simple guide of practical measures entitled “Using concrete in cold weather”.
The first in a new series of practical guides “Using concrete in cold weather” gives advice when placing concrete in cold and frosty conditions on small and medium sized jobs. The conditions covered include ambient temperatures below 5C through to severe frost.
The information contained covers aspects such as the development of strength, use of insulated formwork, percentage of cement and the need for frost blankets.
This essential guide at this time of year can be found on the CEMEX UK website, www.cemex.co.uk.
