In the UK, CEMEX dates back to 1930 when the country's first readymix concrete plant was established by Ready Mixed Concrete.
The plant was the inspiration of Danish engineer Kjeld Olaf Anker Ammentorp, who had experience of using readymix concrete in Copenhagen where it had been available since 1924. Rather than creating a roughly gauged mix of cement, gravel and water on building sites, Ammentorp decided to deliver ready-made concrete to sites from a centralised production point. |
